Rachael Cerrotti is an award-winning author, educator, and documentary storyteller. Through an interdisciplinary practice, she explores stories rooted in the humanity of grief and inherited memory. She recently wrapped her role as the Inaugural Storyteller in Residence for USC Shoah Foundation, is currently a fellow with the Witness Institute, and is the host of the Memory Generation podcast.
In 2019, Cerrotti released her first podcast, We Share the Same Sky, which tells the story of her decade-long journey to retrace her grandmother’s war story. Named one of the best podcasts of the year by HuffPost, We Share the Same Sky is now being taught in high school classrooms around the world. Her critically-acclaimed debut memoir of the same title was released in August 2021. It won the Maine Literary Award, was shortlisted for the 2022 William Saroyan International Prize for Writing, and was listed as one of the best books of the month by Apple Books. She is now curating a traveling museum exhibit based on this project, which will open in the fall of 2023.
Cerrotti is based in Portland, Maine, where she lives with her much-loved dog.
